ATL Wavers
Seeing the original hour long demo of Google Wave in the summer of 2009, it was hard not to be inspired by its promise. Real time communication so granular, you can see a character being typed 1,000 miles away. Instant blog publishing, collaboration, email replacement, gadgets, bots and more. It held the promise of being the "next" platform. And, I think it still holds tremendous promise. In the last 7 months, Atlanta Wavers held some great meetings. And while I could not attend the most recent January meeting, by all reports it was the best one yet.
I'd like to see that kind of meeting continue - it has to. But it will have to continue with a new group leader.

Dear College Newspaper (John): I found your murderer.

Bootstrapping
Back in August, Russell Jurney asked the Atlanta startup community, via Twitter, if anyone could share a success story about bootstrapping. I emailed my own story and asked Russell to qualify it or not and to also provide context to his question. Specifically, his point is:
"I can't name a single person that has bootstrapped a startup, since 2002, and become rich doing so. Every example of such a person I thought I knew, turned out that they had $100K+ in the bank when they started."
After sending off my story, Russell replied:
"This is a really good counterpoint to what I said, and frankly its the only example anyone has named yet. Blog about it!"
So, this blog's for you @RJurney. (My story in just a moment.)

Why I disagree with Russell Jurney
Or, how to be a good plantation hand.

What I am about to say, I may regret for a long time. But it makes my brain hurt less because it's finally out and I don't have to deny how I feel. And I think that is an acceptable definition of good mental health even if the actual words or thoughts are crazy.I should first explain why I am commenting on @rjurney. Me - @derrickpeavy. A lowly, know nobody, known by nobody, wanna be success story someday, whose blog code is not even finished. (Yes, I have heard of WordPress.)
